| Enough food grains in Rajouri, claims Govt | | |

JAMMU, FEB 28: The Department of CA&PD is providing sufficient food grains to the rationees of district Rajouri as per the consumption and off-take under Public Distribution System. This was stated by Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, while replying to a Calling Attention Notice moved by Ch. Zulfikar Ali regarding shortage of food grains in the district Rajouri. The Minister said that as per the Government of India norms for these schemes identified beneficiaries under BPL, AAY and ANP categories are entitled to 100 per cent food grains at the rate of 35 Kgs per family per month under BPL and AAY categories at subsidized rate. The beneficiaries covered under Annapurna scheme get 10 Kgs per soul per month free of cost, he said and adding that as regards APL category food grains are allocated to district Rajouri as per the average off take recorded over the years. The off take trend under APL category in respect of district Rajouri during 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 (ending December 2008) and the normal monthly allocation of year-wise monthly average of off-take of rice was 2275.13 qtls in 2005-06, 4430.79 qtls in 2006-07, 6082.47 qtls in 2007-08 and 6535.27 qtls in 2008-09 upto ending December 2008 while wheat and atta was 6822.02 qtls in 2005-06, 6507.36 qtls in 2006-07, 9281.76 qtls in 2007-08 and 8638.68 qtls in 2008-09 upto ending December 2008. The Normal monthly allocation of rice was 6500 and wheat and atta was 10000, he added.
