Early Times Report
SAMBA, Mar 26: Samba Police has intercepted and foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling within the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal. Notably, a notorious bovine smuggler has been apprehended during these operations, leading to the rescue of the bovines and the seizure of two vehicles utilized for transportation. During routine vehicle checking duty at NHW naka Tapyal, a police team from Police Station Ghagwal, under the leadership of the Station House Officer (SHO), intercepted a Mahindra pickup bearing registration number JK02BN-5171. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be transporting a bovine in a cruel manner, without proper authorization. The arrested individual, identified as Sunil Kumar, son of Amarjeet Lal and a resident of Radawna tehsil Ramgarh district Samba, has a history of involvement in bovine smuggling. In addition to the seizure of the vehicle, a case (FIR No. 37/2024) has been registered under relevant sections of the law, including IPC and PCA Act, at Police Station Ghagwal.
It is worth noting that the apprehended individual is notorious for his involvement in previous bovine smuggling cases, including FIR No. 50/2024 under IPC Section 188 at PS Rajbagh district Kathua and FIR No. 93/2023 under IPC Section 188 at PS Ghagwal.
In a separate incident, another attempt of bovine smuggling was thwarted when a Honda City car bearing registration number JK02AR-5200 was intercepted at naka Tapyal. Similar to the previous case, the bovine was found to be transported illegally without proper authorization. A case (FIR No. 36/2024) has been registered under relevant sections of the law at Police Station Ghagwal, and investigations are underway.
The successful interception and apprehension of the notorious smuggler underscore Samba Police's relentless efforts to combat illegal activities and uphold the law, ensuring the protection of livestock and the prevention of criminal activities in the region.
