Jammu police arrest two drug peddlers, heroin seized in anti-narcotics operation

JAMMU, Mar 26: Jammu police continuing its drive under operation Sanjeevani against drug peddlers, today on 25.03.2024 SHO Peermitha and Incharge Police Post Gujjar Nagar PSI Majid Shafi under the close supervision of SP City Shivam Siddarth-IPS led by SDPO City North Jammu Devinder Singh Bandral-JKPS apprehended one person namely Shoaib Quyoom S/O Abdul Quyoom R/O Chenni Chowk, Ananatnag during Patrolling. On seeing the police party, the said person tried to flee from the spot. On this, the police officals overpowered him and during his personal search approx 2 grams of Heroin (Chitta)like substance were recovered from his possesion. On this, case FIR No. 19/24 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at P/S Peermitha. Further as per inquiry from accused he disclosed that he had purchased the heroin like substance from persons in Gujjar Nagar, Jammu. The house of suspected persons was raided in presence of executive magistrate 1st. Class and during search approx 9 grams of Heroin like substance were recovered from the possesion of Nazia Bhat D/o Zaffar Bhat near graveyard Gujjar Nagar, Jammu. Further investigation of the case is going on. Both the accused were arrested and contraband seized. People have applauded the efforts of Jammu Police in acting tough against the drug peddlers. Jammu Police enjoined upon all citizens of Jammu to be aware of drug menace and report any incident to Jammu Police. The identity of the person informing regarding this menace will not be disclosed to anyone.
