Early Times Report
SAMBA, Mar 26: In a significant breakthrough, Samba Police successfully apprehended a notorious criminal in the Vijaypur area, seizing a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession. The arrest was made during a special vehicle checking operation conducted by a police team from Police Station Vijaypur, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), at NHW Gurha Morh.
The incident unfolded when the police signaled a Mahindra Thar vehicle with registration number JK21H 9444, traveling from Jammu towards Samba, to halt for inspection. Upon noticing the police presence, the driver attempted to flee the scene, but the vigilant police personnel swiftly intercepted the vehicle, thwarting the escape bid and apprehending the driver.
During the ensuing search, law enforcement officers uncovered a country-made automatic pistol along with two live cartridges concealed in the possession of the detained driver. The individual has been identified as Narayan Sharma, also known as 'Shuna,' son of Brita Lal Sharma and a resident of Thalori Brahmana, Vijaypur, in the Samba district.
Subsequently, a case under FIR No. 42/2024, registered under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act, has been initiated at Police Station Vijaypur. The investigation into the matter is currently underway to unearth further details and potential links to any criminal activities.
This successful operation underscores the commitment of Samba Police to ensuring public safety and combating crime in the region. The prompt and decisive action taken by law enforcement authorities has not only led to the apprehension of a dangerous criminal but has also prevented potential threats posed by the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
