| Probe ordered into double allotment of Govt quarters | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, FEB 28: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora on behalf of Chief Minister assured the Legislative Council today that the expenditure incurred for the construction of migrant shelters at rehabilitation centers both at Srinagar and Jammu would be inquired besides the double allotment of government quarters in Jammu district to the employees would also be looked in. The Minister was replying to a supplementaries raised by Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Khatana in the Upper House today. Earlier, replying to the main question by S. Praduman Singh, the Minister said that no specific area has been developed so far, for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandit Migrants. However, for providing temporary shelter, camps were established at four places of Muthi, Nagrota, Mishriwala and Purkhoo in Jammu division where 5000 Kashmiri migrant families are putting up. He further said that 200 flats-under Prime Minister’s reconstruction plan, have been constructed at Sheikhpora, Budgam for providing transit accommodation to those Kashmiri Pandit migrants who wish to return back to the valley. He said that 828 families have been allotted two room sets constructed under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan at Purkhoo, Nagrota and Muthi. The remaining 4172 families are putting up in one room tenements as yet. He apprised the House that under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan construction of 5242 flats was taken up in two phases, out of which 10214 flats have been completed in phase first. Construction work on remaining 4218 flats is going on at Jagti Nagrota in phase IInd, he added.
