Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 27: In an effort to combat the rising concern of drug abuse among students, a one-day symposium was organized at GDC Dudu Basantgarh on March 27, 2024. The event witnessed active participation from the college students, who demonstrated enthusiasm and zeal towards addressing this pressing issue. Professor Zahoor Ahmed delivered a compelling lecture, emphasizing the detrimental effects of drug abuse. He urged students to steer clear of such substances, illustrating his point with a powerful analogy of a rotten apple contaminating others in a container.
Adding to the discourse, two students shared their insights on the matter, contributing to the dialogue surrounding the adverse impacts of drug addiction.
Principal of the college, Professor Anirudh Sharma, delivered a poignant message, urging students to prioritize their studies and shun drugs. He highlighted the societal repercussions of drug addiction, likening addicts to parasites and emphasizing the anguish it brings to families. Professor Sharma encouraged students to take a pledge against the use of harmful substances.
The symposium also saw the presence of distinguished faculty members including Professors Pradeep, Tariq, Iqbal, Mehraj, Nisar, Mushtaq, and Vidisha, who collectively underscored the importance of awareness and prevention in combating drug abuse. Professor Pradeep Kumar expressed gratitude to all participants, concluding the event with a vote of thanks.
The symposium served as a platform for fostering awareness and instilling a sense of responsibility among students, with hopes of fostering a drug-free environment within the college community.
