GDC Udhampur organize "Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye" campaign

UDHAMPUR, Mar 29: The National Service Scheme (NSS) units of Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur recently organized a significant initiative titled "Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye" Promise Campaign, aiming to foster awareness and participation in the democratic process among students.
Under the esteemed guidance of Principal Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta and the supervision of NSS Program Officers Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and Prof. Sanjeet Singh, the campaign was conducted with fervor and dedication. As the 2024 Lok Sabha elections loom on the horizon, the campaign aimed to serve as a catalyst in reinforcing the pillars of democracy.
The event commenced with an inspiring message from Principal Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, emphasizing the paramount importance of voting. He underscored the pivotal role of youth voices in shaping the nation's priorities and fostering progress. Stressing the significance of each vote, he highlighted how informed and conscientious voting decisions can propel the nation towards prosperity.
Faculty members, including Prof. Anil Thappa, Prof. Rajesh Singh Manhas, Dr. Sanjay Singh, and Dr. Ujjwal Gupta, also shared their insights, urging students to choose candidates wisely for the betterment of the nation.
More than 150 NSS volunteers and students from various streams and semesters enthusiastically participated in the promise campaign near the college's main gate. Led by Dr. Jagjeet Singh, the program witnessed active engagement as participants pledged to fulfill their civic duty by exercising their right to vote.
The campaign exemplified GDC Udhampur's commitment to nurturing responsible citizenship and empowering the youth to become agents of positive change in the democratic process. Through such initiatives, the college aims to instill a sense of civic responsibility and encourage active participation in shaping the nation's future.
