Early Times Report

Kathua, Mar 29: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trade, authorities in Kathua have apprehended Ganesh Kumar, son of Mohan Lal and resident of Sahar tehsil and District Kathua, for allegedly engaging in the illicit sale of alcohol.
Acting on credible information, law enforcement officials launched an operation at Logate morh Kathua, where Kumar was reportedly conducting his unlawful activities.
FIR No. 100/2024 under Section 48a of the Excise Act has been filed against Ganesh Kumar, marking a stern response to the ongoing issue of bootlegging in the region.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of a substantial quantity of contraband liquor from Kumar's possession.
Upon thorough search and seizure, authorities recovered a total of 4 bottles, along with 30 quarter bottles of 180 ml each, and 20 quarter bottles of 250 ml of desi whiskey.
The haul underscores the magnitude of Kumar's illegal operation and the potential harm it posed to the community.
Local residents have expressed relief and appreciation for the swift action taken by law enforcement agencies to curb the illegal sale of alcohol, which has long been a concern in the area.
Authorities have assured the public of their continued vigilance against such illicit activities, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining law and order.
Ganesh Kumar is currently in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings as the investigation into the matter continues.
