Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 30: From the 29th to the 31st of March, the Abhinav Theatre on Canal Road, Jammu, reverberated with the essence of cultural diversity as the Tawi Sahitya Lok Utsav unfolded its vibrant tapestry. This event, a collaboration between the J&K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), J&K Regional Centre, served as a convergence point for literary, artistic, and cultural expressions.
Key organizers including Secretary of JKAACL, Bharat Singh Manhas, Regional Director of IGNCA, J&K, Shruti Awasthi, and Additional Secretary of JKAACL, Sanjeev Rana, orchestrated a seamless and enriching experience for all participants, alongside Brajesh Jha, Executive Editor of Hindusthan Samachar.
An eminent highlight of the inaugural day was a thought-provoking book interaction centered around "Transforming J&K: Governance, Development and Media," authored by Dr. Vinit Utpal, Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). Dr. Utpal engaged in a stimulating conversation with Dr. Ravia Gupta, Lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Jammu University. The book, lauded by Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal of Jammu University, delves into the evolving landscape of the UT of J&K, promising to shape its future trajectory.
During the discussion, Dr. Utpal emphasized the pivotal role of youth in scripting a new narrative for J&K, particularly in the context of startup initiatives envisaged under the startup policy 2018-2028. He underscored the importance of media in disseminating awareness about these initiatives, serving as a guiding light for the youth seeking opportunities in the region.
The event also featured engaging student competitions, insightful workshops by the National Book Trust, and an Authors' Corner where literary enthusiasts interacted with renowned authors. Additionally, the Book Fair Exhibition and Artisan Haat showcased the rich cultural heritage of Jammu, further enriching the Utsav's cultural tapestry.
The Tawi Sahitya Lok Utsav stands as a testament to the vibrant cultural ethos of Jammu, celebrating its heritage and fostering artistic exchange and appreciation.
