| BJP reacts to CM’s stand on art 370 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 3- The stand taken by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about Article-370 and its implications is condemnable, said BJP spokesperson Ramesh Arora here today and suggested Omar to study the history before making such unwanted statements. While reacting over the statement of Omar Abdullah on "strengthening of Article-370", the BJP spokesperson said the assertion of the Chief Minister that Article will strengthen Central-State relations is incorrect. In fact BJP feels that it was a political blunder in the history and the history will not forgive those who have committed this mistake, he added. He said that this very article was the root cause, which encouraged the separatists and maintained that the accession of J&K with India is complete and irrevocable. ‘Article-370 should be abrogated, if we want to control militancy and separatist tendencies’, he remarked. He said in fact the 5th working group on Central- State relations has not considered this view point of BJP and like minded parties. BJP do not hope much from such working group. The statement of Omar Abdullah is further incredible because he has stated that Article-370 of the Indian Constitution is a bridge between J&K and rest of the country and any attempt to weaken it would impact the Central state relationship. Such type of thinking is against the basic spirit of Constitution. In fact, Article-370 was incorporated in the constitution with the intention to appease a particular community. It has been noticed that number of other states are demanding same special status as that of Jammu and Kashmir under Article-370. This demand is against the unitary character of the constitution. We consider India as one unit and not only combination of different states to form union. It is in the interest of whole country that Article-370 be immediately abolished if we want that our country should grow as one unit, Arora said in his statement.
