Street play "Matdaan" staged at various places in Udhampur district

UDHAMPUR, Mar 31: The District Administration of Udhampur organized a street play titled "Matdaan" at various locations across the district, including Sudhmahadev, Latti, Basantgarh, Ram Nagar, Ghordi Mansar Lake, and Garh Samna Banj. The play was performed by the Sangam Theatre Group from Reasi.
At the event held in Basant Garh, Saloni Rai, IAS, District Development Commissioner of Udhampur, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Mohd Rafiq Jaral, JKAS, SDM Ram Nagar, presided over the function. SDM Basant Garh, Wahid-ul-Rehman, JKAS, and SSP Udhampur, Joginder Singh, were also present as special guests. In Sudhmahadev, Pankaj Singh Bahu, Tehsildar Chanani, and Davinder Singh, CEO PDA, along with other officials, attended the event.
The play "Matdaan" focused on promoting voter participation, emphasizing the importance of voting in a free, fair, and ethical manner. It highlighted the rights of voters and the significance of electing the right candidate. The play was written and directed by M. Akram Khan and received high praise from the audience for its insightful portrayal of various characters.
Actors including Varun Khajuria, Raja Amir Khan, Priya Kumari, Anamika Devi, Neha Devi, Anuradha Devi, Neeraj Thakur, M. Jackson, and M. Akram Khan showcased their talents in different roles. Anil Kumar served as the coordinator for the production.
The chief guest commended the efforts of the organizers and expressed gratitude to all participants, particularly the performing groups, for their outstanding presentation. The street play was witnessed by district administration officials, local residents, students, and teachers, all of whom appreciated the message conveyed through the performance.
The play received resounding applause from the audience, and due to its popularity, it is scheduled to be staged at Tikri, Neel Nallah Kambal Danga, and Gole Market Udhampur on April 1st, 2024.
