BJP blemished democracy by tacitly abetting authoritarian rule: Sadhotra

JAMMU, Mar 31: Stepping up his attack on BJP Government, Ajay Sadhotra, Additional General Secretary JKNC and former minister on Sunday alleged that the structures of Indian democracy are under brutal attack and there is a full-scale assault on the institutions of the country. He said that the Saffron party has blemished democracy by toeing a line of dictatorial regime, which is painful and bad for the people of the country.
The senior NC leader was addressing a day-long convention organised at Govindpur, Satwari area of Jammu City. The convention was organised by Jitender Singh Lucky, former Vice Chairman Cantonment Board, Jammu, who apprised the NC leadership about the problems and issues being confronted by the general masses.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President, in his address, emphasized the growing disillusionment among the populace with the current administration's inability to fulfill the basic needs and aspirations of the common citizens. He underscored the palpable desire among the public in Jammu and Kashmir for a fresh alternative, viewing the I.N.D.I Alliance as the most promising option on the horizon.
Rattan Lal pointed out that a prevailing sentiment for comprehensive transformation permeates the Union Territory, fueling widespread support for the INDIA bloc. He predicted a landslide victory for the I.N.D.I. Alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, suggesting that all five seats in the region are poised to fall under its sway. This surge of support reflects a resounding call for change and a renewed faith in the vision and leadership offered by the I.N.D.I. Alliance, he added.
The Provincial President appealed to the party workers to work hard dedicatedly and ensure the victory of Alliance candidates of India Bloc in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
Emphasizing on the need to strengthen secularism, Abdul Ghani Malik, Zonal President Reasi Udhampur and former minster said that INDIA bloc will ensure reviving the pluralistic ethos in J&K as the BJP being highly divisive had created deep fissures among the communities just for meager political gains. He said people need to support INDIA bloc alliance for once again restoring the communal brotherhood and bonhomie.
Babu Rampal, Zone President Jammu, Samba and Kathua, said that the weaker sections have been ignored badly under the incumbent government thus to provide justice to poverty-ridden communities ouster of BJP from power corridors is a must.
Bimla Luthra, Senior NC leader and former MLA said that National Conference has always stood for women rights and will continue to do the same as it is indigenous to the party's norms and ethos. She urged women of the area to support India Bloc candidates whole-heartedly in the upcoming Lok Sabha in Jammu and Kashmir.
Among those who were present include Abdul Ghani Teli, Laxmi Dutta, Chander Mohan Sharma, District President, Tejinder Singh District President Youth, Parvinder Singh Block President, Rakesh Singh Raka, Ankush Abrol, Dr Vikas Sharma, Harshvardhan Singh, Surjeet Singh Sasan, Somraj Taroch, Gandhi Singh and Aaya Singh.
