| Joint efforts must to resolve issues: LC members | | | Early Times Reporter
JAMMU, March 03 – Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil while initiating the discussion on Governor’s address in Legislative Council today, spoke about various problems confronting the State in different sectors, adding that joint efforts were needed to solve these.
Referring to unemployment crisis, he said that government should take concrete steps to solve the growing unemployment problem. He said that improvement in education system could definitely make youth better job managers, adding that vocationalizing the education could bring a solution for solving unemployment in the State.
Mr. Vakil emphasized for improvement of health institutions in remote and rural areas of the State, besides upgrading road connectivity and augmenting drinking water facilities.
Complimenting the people of the state for fair conduct of elections in the State, Sardar T.S. Wazir hailed the role of civil employees and Armed forces for holding of incident free elections. He suggested for constitution of committee to look into the grievances of the refugees of 1947.
Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak also complimented the people of the State for taking overwhelmed part in the elections. He suggested for delimitation and completion of projects undertaken by the previous government. He demanded special package for farmers and fruit growers whose crops got damaged due to hailstorms. He asked to strengthen the facilities to the pilgrim tourists and also asked to bring Purmandal-Utterbehni circuit at pilgrimage tourism map. He appealed the government for implementation of recommendations of sub-committee report which was formed to address the grievances of ex-serviceman.
Murtaza Ahmad Khan termed the Governor’s address as a road map related to activities to be done by the government. He demanded ST status to Pahari and Gujjars of the State. He insisted to continue the drive against corruption and to facilitate the cross LOC trade.
In all, 14 members took part in the discussion on Governor’s address.
