Police arrests 5 bovine smugglers

RAMBAN, Apr 1: Continuing its drive against the bovine smugglers and their propagators under Operation KAMDHENU, Ramban police under the supervision of SSP Ramban Sh. Anuj Kumar-IPS has foiled bovine smuggling attempts, arrested 05 bovine smugglers, rescued 89 bovines and seized five vehicles.
A police team of Police station Batote headed by SHO Batote while performing vehicle checking duty at NHW Naka Nashri, intercepted two vehicles bearing registration JK02P 8337, Vehicle Temprary No 6493 held two persons namely Puran Chand son of Chet Ram resident of Tringla,Tehsil Batote and Tousif Ahmed son of Mohd.Arif resident of Maitra Ramban.During checking 29 bovines were found laden inside both the vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Police Party of PS Chanderkote headed by SHO Chanderkote foiled two Bovine smuggling bids, intercepted 02 vehicles bearing registration Nos JK 19A 2658 and JK02AQ 8249 and held 02 persons namely Parvez Ahmed S/O Mohd Maroof R/O Dhara Kunfer Chanderkote and Sajad Ahmed S/O Mohd Altaf RO Kachwan Kehar pora Anantnag. During checking 33 bovines were found laden inside the two vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Police Party of PP Jawhar Tnnnel headed by I/C PP foiled a Bovine smuggling bid, intercepted 01 vehicle bearing registration No JK 02DG 4813 and held 01 person namely Rafiq Ahmed S/O Farooq Ahmed R/O Ragura Jammu. During checking 27 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
As a result, a total of 89 bovine animals were rescued under the operation "KAMDHENU." Subsequently, FIR No. 42/2024 & 43/2024 were registered at Police Station Batote, FIR No. 43/2024 & 44/2024 at PS Chanderkote and FIR No 44/2024 at P/S Banihal under Sections 188 IPC, and under the Prevention of cruelty to Animals Act. The investigation has been initiated into these cases. 05 persons arrested and 05 vehicle involved in the commission of offence have been Seized.
The successful rescue operation was conducted by Police parties led by SHO Police Station Batote and SHO PS Chanderkote and I/C PP JT under the supervision of Dysp Hqrs Ramban, SDPO Banihal, Addl.SP Ramban, with the overall supervision by SSP Ramban.
