MUNISH GUPTA
Jammu , March 3: “Do your paper well; do not leave even a single question unsolved. Revise the answers thoroughly and do it timely. All the best,” these were the words of Meenakshi Gupta to her daughter Pallavi, a Class 12th student, outside the examination centre at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Rehari as the examinations of the 12th standard for J&K Board of School Education begins today.
As per reports about 42,853 students are appearing in the examination for which 434 centers have been established across Jammu Province. Chairman J&K Board of School Education, Prof. Deshbandu Sharma while talking to Early Times said that the board has made very strict arrangement to stop the copy menace. He also told that he himself had inspected various examination centers and till further reports everything was going smoothly.
The scene outside the examination centre was calm. In fact, one could hear the murmuring sound, as the students were doing their last-minute revision. Some of them were checking admit cards, pens, stationery and writing pad, while some were remembering God.
On the first day of the board examination, nervous students were seen doing last-minute reading from their text books and notes while on their way to the examination centers on rickshaws, cars or bikes. Parents were trying their level best to give every comfort and help too their children.
Carrying almonds, Ritu, one of the Class 12th student said, “My mother dipped them in water last night and asked me to take them with milk in the morning today. She also kept a few in my pocket because they help in increasing concentration. I had been eating them since last two months.”
Sneha Gupta says, “My parents blessed me. They also offered me sweet curd, which is considered auspicious.”
After the examination students collected in groups to discuss the paper and many declared that they should do well in this paper. Aditya Singh , a class XII student said, “The English paper was easy, I am confident of my performance. I should do well and I hope this trend continues in other papers.”
Mohit another student said “I am pretty satisfied with my performance. The paper was easy. Everything was from the course. Most of my friends also found the paper easy.
Tension was clearly visible amongst parents. Some of them even waited outside the examination centre for three hours till the paper got over, confirmed a guard outside the school. “I am tense for my son. Though he is well-prepared, he was very confused in the morning. I hope he does well,” said Suman Sharma mother of Rohit , a Class 12 student.
But after the examination many parents outside the examination centre were busy discussing the paper with students and other parents. Relief was written large over
their earlier tense faces. Many parents had arrived well before the paper was over. Undoubtedly nervous parents were as relieved as students.
