From hatred to harmony: Omar vows to campaign for Lal Singh
Lok Sabha Polls
4/4/2024 11:26:19 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 4: Ending his hatred towards veteran politician Choudhary Lal Singh, the National Conference vice president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today announced that he would campaign for Congress candidates in both the two seats of Jammu province.
“I will campaign for Congress candidates on Jammu and Udhampur Lok Sabha seats”, Omar Abdullah said while indicating that he would mobilize support for Choudhary Lal Singh in the areas where the National Conference has a stronghold.
First time Omar Abdullah has announced to share the stage with Choudhary Lal Singh as both leaders have had hateful relations for a long. During Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in January 2023, Choudhary Lal Singh had charged Omar Abdullah with denying him stage at Lakhanpur-the gateway of J&K.
Omar Abdullah has opposed the decision of the Congress to allow Choudhary Lal Singh to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K in 2023.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah were earlier divided over sharing a stage with Choudhary Lal Singh. Senior Abdullah invited Singh to an all-party meeting held at his residence on September 11, 2022, in Jammu on voting rights to non-locals.
Not only did Choudhary Lal Singh attend the all-party meeting but he was also nominated as a member of the 14-member-pane to chalk out the future course of action against the move to include “non-locals” in the revised electoral rolls of Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar Abdullah on the other hand was adamant on sharing stage with Lal Singh.
Meanwhile, the president of the National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah joined the campaign for Choudhary Lal Singh along with senior leaders.
After addressing a public meeting at Batote to seek people’s support for Choudhary Lal Singh, Dr. Farooq Abdullah today addressed a public meeting in Katra town to mobilize support for Raman Bhalla.
