Jammu, Apr 6: A delegation of the College Teachers' Association (CTA), led by its President, Dr. Rakesh Jasrotia, met with Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, to apprise him of crucial issues faced by college teachers that require immediate redressal.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted several pressing concerns, including the restoration of advanced increments for higher qualifications, enhancement of the age of superannuation for college teachers as recommended by the committee headed by the Advisor (B), and the release of placement arrears for Associate Professors. Additionally, the CTA representatives emphasized the need for the notification of the Standing Order implementing the UGC Regulations-2018 with a reasonable window period and prospective effect. They also advocated for the promotion of Associate Professors to the post of Professor under the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) as per the UGC Regulations-2018. Other key issues raised during the meeting included permission for full-time PhD with study leave, operating the remaining part of the Select List of Principals, timely placement of college teachers, and the immediate release of arrears thereof. The Lieutenant Governor, patiently listened to the demands of the college teachers and marked the memorandum for appropriate action. The delegation was accompanied by Prof. Madhavi and Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma, the General Secretary of the CTA.
The meeting between the CTA delegation and the Lieutenant Governor underscores the ongoing efforts to address the concerns and grievances of college teachers in the Union Territory. The issues raised during the meeting highlight the need for comprehensive measures to ensure the well-being and professional growth of the teaching fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir. As the UT administration considers the demands put forth by the CTA, the college teaching community eagerly awaits positive developments and resolutions to the issues that have been raised
