| Prof Punjabi inaugurates upgraded school for visually impaired | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 4- The upgraded school and vocational training centre for visually impaired (Blind) was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Riaz Punjabi at a function organized by the Composite Regional Centre for persons with disabilities at Bemina here today. The vocational centre has been upgraded with new technology of Braille Computer and Braille Shorthand which has been introduced for the first time in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. In this School more than 30 children are registered. Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, Director, National Institute for the Physically Handicapped, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi and Hilal Ahmad Parray, Director Department of Social Welfare, Kashmir were also present on the occasion. Prof. Punjabi has complimented the role of Dr. Reyaz A Untoo Director CRC who has contributed a lot for the up-gradation and up-liftment of the Clinical as well as Research and Academic services of this Institute. He said the dealing with different disability is an audios-task and needs lot of patience and compassion. ‘We should take care of the rights of the Disabled and encourage them to contribute to society as other individuals’, he added Dr. Dharmendra Kumar appreciated the efforts put-up by Dr. Reyaz A Untoo, Director CRC, in streamlining the institution and its progress and assured full support and help from the Ministry of various programs and services at this institution. Hilal Ahmad Parray, also appreciated the work and progress of CRC Srinagar and explained the schemes being provided by the State Department of Social Welfare, Government in the interest of ‘Persons with Disabilities’. He also appreciated the role of Director, CRC for up-liftment of this section of the society and the institution.
