GDC RS Pura organises signature campaign on voter awareness

RS PURA, Apr 8: The Electrol Literacy Club of GDC R. S. Pura in collaboration with Dept. of Education, NSS, IQAC and Viksit Bharat club of the college organized a Signature Campaign under the banner of "Voter Awareness Campaign" with the aim to make the staff and students aware that the right to vote is a fundamental right in any democratic society. The students were also provided with pamphlets highlighting the need for voter awareness.Speaking in the occasion Prof Vijeeta Anand said that the Elections Department is focussing on low-polled areas in the previous elections and stepping up the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activity to substantially increase the poll percentage.
The event was organised under the guidance of the College Principal Dr. (Prof.) Rajni Bhagat. She exhorted that the department is working towards achieving 100 per cent polling in all Assembly constituencies in India. She also urged the students to create awareness among their families, friends and neighbours on the need to exercise the democratic right. She further added that it is the cornerstone of our democracy, allowing citizens to have a say in who governs them and how they are governed.The event was coordinated by Prof Vijeeta Anand and Prof. Neelam Kumari. Others who make the event successful were Prof Neena Gupta, Dr. Chanchal Angral, Prof Shifali Abrol, Prof. Neeti Chibber, Prof Sudesh Kumar, Dr. Radika Mahajan, Prof. Renu Sharma, Dr. Hari Singh,Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch and Dr. Rakesh Kalotra.
