| Folk dances of Rajasthan, Punjab, Assam enthralls audience | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 4- Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala organized folk performances by the artists of Rajasthan, Punjab and Assam states. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Culture and Tourism was the Chief Guest. While welcoming the artists, distinguished guests and the audience Zafar Iqbal Manhas said that Cultural Academy has scheduled the activities at State and National level in the field of culture, art and literature. He said that during this month Academy is organizing State Level Dogri Writers Conference at Udhampur and ‘Dhank-III’ at Poonch in which writers and artists from the State are going to participate. He further told that to promote and explore the activities of folk traditions of the state and other parts of the country the Academy is arranging such programs in collaboration with North Zone Culture Centre, Patiala. The Minister while speaking on the occasion congratulated the Cultural Academy and North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala for organizing such impressive performances of different states of the country. He appreciated the artists who performed today and said that the diverse culture of our county is the main strength which helps a lot in establishing India as a developing country at the International scene. He hoped such more activities in future too. In today’s programme the artists from Punjab performed Bhangra, Rajasthani artist Gautam Parmar presented Bhawai Nritya while Rekha, Kavita and Lila presented Kaal Belia, the most popular folk dances of the state. Large number of intellectual and prominent citizens of the region applauded the internationally renowned folk dances of the states of Punjab, Rajasthan and Assam.
