Police arrests 4 bovine smugglers, seize 4 vehicles

RAMBAN, Apr 8: Continuing its drive against the bovine smugglers and their propagators under Operation KAMDHENU, Ramban police under the supervision of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar-IPS has foiled bovine smuggling attempts, arrested 04 bovine smugglers, rescued 70 bovines and seized four vehicles.
Police teams of PP Patnitop and Police station Batota headed by SHO Batote while performing vehicle checking duty intercepted two vehicles bearing registration JK 19 2658 Vehicle Temp. No 6493 held two persons namely Parviz Ahmed son of Maroof Ahmed resident of Kunfer Chanderkote and Tousif Ahmed son of Mohd. Arif resident of Maitra Ramban. During checking 23 bovines were found laden inside both the vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Police Party of PS Ramban headed by SHO Ramban foiled two Bovine smuggling bids, intercepted 02 vehicles bearing registration Nos JK 14E 5295, JK02DG 0664 and held 02 persons namely Mohd Yaqoob son of Jamal Din resident of Saral, Haveli, Poonch and Irshad Ahmed son of Khan Mohd resident of Alchiward Hiller, Kukernag Anantnag. During checking 47 bovines were found laden inside the two vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
As a result, a total of 70 bovine animals were rescued under the operation "KAMDHENU." Subsequently, FIR No. 44/2024 and 45/2024 were registered at Police Station Batote, FIR No. 74/2024 and 75/2024 at PS Ramban under Sections 188 IPC, and under the Prevention of cruelty to Animals Act. The investigation has been initiated into these cases. 04 persons arrested and 04 vehicle involved in the commission of offence have been Seized.
The successful rescue operation was conducted by Police parties led by SHO Police Station Batote and SHO PS Ramban under the supervision of Dysp Hqrs Ramban, Addl. SP Ramban, with the overall supervision by SSP Ramban.
