Kavinder slams Congress for pursuing divisive, appeasement politics
4/8/2024 10:33:05 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 8: Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, strongly criticized the Congress party for indulging in divisive politics and prioritizing appeasement over national unity.
Speaking at the meeting held here today, the BJP stalwart echoed the sentiments expressed by BJP National President, J.P. Nadda, regarding the Congress' manifesto, which he alleged to be a blueprint for division akin to the agenda of the Muslim League led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah during the pre-independence era.
Kavinder highlighted the historical parallels, stating, "The Congress' manifesto mirrors the divisive agenda of the Muslim League, which sought reservation on religious lines in 1929. By perpetuating appeasement politics, the Congress is jeopardizing the fabric of our nation."
He further accused the Congress of disregarding the interests of the majority community and attempting to sow seeds of discord for their own political gains. "The Congress-led UPA government had contemplated legislation that would have discriminated against the majority community, particularly Hindus. Such actions only serve to deepen the fault lines within our society," he asserted.
Emphasizing the rejection of divisive politics by the Indian electorate, Kavinder reiterated the BJP's commitment to inclusive governance. "India has consistently rejected divisive politics, and the BJP remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering national unity and inclusive development for all citizens," he stated.
The former Deputy Chief Minister urged the Congress to abandon its divisive agenda and focus on policies that unite the nation. "The Congress must understand that the path to progress lies in unity, not division. It's time for them to prioritize the interests of the nation over narrow political gains," he concluded.
"Bharatiya Janata Party stands resolute in its commitment to upholding the values of unity and inclusivity, and will continue to work towards building a stronger and more cohesive India," he added.
