Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, today informed the Legislative Assembly that about 2098 solar lanterns have been issued through Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), in Malikote, Shibras, Dewal, Gulab Garh, Mamankot, Chandiakot and Shergarhi villages of Gulab Garh constituency in 2008-09. Regarding the remaining un-electrified villages of the constituency, He said the demographic and other details are being collected from the concerned District Development Commissioner following which, proposal for providing basic lighting facility through solar lighting shall be submitted to the Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) for central funding under the Remote Village, Electrification (RVE) Programme.
