J&K Sport Climbers Shine in St Stephen's College Delhi's National Competition

JAMMU, Apr 9: Jammu and Kashmir's sport climbers showcased exceptional talent and determination at the 17th St. Stephen's College Delhi's Open National Sport Climbing Competition held on April 6th to 7th, 2024, within the college premises. The athletes displayed remarkable prowess, securing two medals, including one Gold and one Bronze.
As anticipated, Shivani Charak, hailing from J&K and recognized as the country's top-ranked sport climber, effortlessly clinched the Gold medal in lead climbing in the Women's category. Despite exhibiting incredible speed, Shivani faced an unfortunate slip during the speed climbing event, depriving her of another medal.
In the sub-junior girls' category, Ayaana Bhagat, an immensely talented and determined climber from J&K, impressed with her exceptional performance on the climbing wall. Matching her senior counterparts from Delhi in strength and agility, Ayaana secured the third place, showcasing her prowess in speed climbing as well.
Aradhya Manhas, competing in the Sub Junior Boys category, exhibited commendable skill to qualify for the preliminary round. However, faced with stiff competition from the country's top climbers, Aradhya faced challenges in the subsequent rounds.
Acknowledging the climbers' remarkable achievements, Patrons of Tawi Trekkers J&K, including Ashwani Sharma, former MLA, Rahul Sharma, Chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab Jammu, along with Advisor Ram Khajuria, President Shawetica Khajuria, and General Secretary Sonam Sidharth, extended their heartfelt congratulations. They assured the climbers of their unwavering support and assistance for future competitions.
The success of J&K's sport climbers at the national level underscores the region's burgeoning talent and the immense potential for further growth in the field of sports climbing. Their achievements serve as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes and a testament to the dedication and perseverance of the climbers and their support system.
