SAMBA, MARCH 04 - District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat held a meeting of district officers to assess the development scenario in the district in respect of financial and physical progress achieved till date and steps taken to achieve the targets 2008-09.
In the meeting, the DDC impressed upon the officers for observance of Model Code of Conduct in view of General Elections to the Lok Sabha, 2009, which has come into operation with effect from March 2, 2009 and said that any official found violating the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct shall be viewed very seriously.
While reviewing the PWD (R&B), the Executive Engineer has apprised that an amount of Rs.500.00 lakh stands spent till date and by end of March, 2009. Rs.650.00 lakh shall be utilized for completion of road projects undertaken under district plan and NABARD schemes. He further reported that 10.00 km road of BT, 12.00 km of metalled, 8.00 km of shingled and 6.00 km of earth work specifications stand completed so far.
The DDC emphasized upon the PWD (R&B) to ensure formulation of road projects in district Samba so that the same could be submitted to the NABARD authority for sanction in order to take these projects in the next financial year.
As regards PHE sector, it was told that an expenditure of Rs.179.00 lakh was incurred till date and assured that the balance funds of NABARD loan shall be utilized in full for completion of water supply schemes targeted for current financial for providing drinking water supply to the habitations. 3 habitations namely Upper Nehari, Amwal and Sarla Beli stand already covered with drinking water facility thus benefiting 2600 population of these habitations.
As regards other sectors viz. Handicrafts, handloom, DIC, etc. the DDC stressed upon the officers to accomplish the targets fixed at the earliest. In case of any shortfall in this regard, concerned sectoral officer shall be dealt severally under rules.
Among others, the meeting attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Samba, Executive Engineer PWD, Chief Planning Officer, Samba and Fisheries Development Officer.
