4/10/2024 10:42:24 PM
Early Times Report
SUCHETGARH, Apr 10: Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, and DDC Suchetgarh strongly objected over the government's failure to declare a state holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. He vehemently condemned the government's decision, stating it as a disregard for the sentiments of the Muslim community.
Tony made these remarks while joining the members of the Gujjar Community in celebrating Eid at village Joura Farm in Sucetgarh, a zero-line village in Indian Territory. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and respecting religious festivals, highlighting Eid-ul-Fitr as a significant occasion for millions of Muslims across the country.
"By not declaring a holiday on Eid-ul-Fitr, the government has shown insensitivity towards the religious beliefs and cultural diversity of our nation," he remarked. "This decision is not only disappointing but also reflects a lack of inclusivity and understanding of the needs of minority communities."
The senior Congress leader also highlighted the dismal state of affairs in J&K, emphasizing the government's inability to deliver essential services and infrastructure to the region. "The present government has miserably failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Basic amenities remain inaccessible, and developmental projects are stalled, leaving the residents of the region in despair," he remarked.
Expressing concern over the neglect of J&K's needs, Tony underscored the importance of electing representatives who would genuinely advocate for the interests of the region. He urged the Gujjar Community and the people of J&K to throw their support behind the INDI Alliance candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
"The INDI Alliance is committed to addressing the grievances of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring their voices are heard at the highest levels of governance," he said, adding "It is imperative that we unite to bring about positive change and development in our region."
Tony called upon the people of J&K to exercise their democratic right and vote for candidates who prioritize the well-being and prosperity of the region. "Together, we can usher in a new era of progress and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir," he stated.
He urged the people of J&K to rally behind the INDIA Alliance and work towards building a brighter future for the region. "Let us join hands in shaping the destiny of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring a better tomorrow for generations to come," he concluded.
