Cyber Cell Jammu solves online financial fraud

JAMMU, Apr 11: Cyber Cell of District Police Jammu solved four separate online cyber crime complaints.
In one complaint the complainant received a call from unknown person who asked him to download app namely YONO APP and defrauded an amount of RS.23,700 .The complainant made transactions after which the fraudster demanded more amount and then complainant smelled fraud and reported the matter.
A complaint of financial fraud of Rs 61,000 in which the phone of complainant was hacked by unknown fraudster and an amount of Rs.61,000 withdrawn from his account through google pay. Thereafter the fraudster switched off his phone.
Another complaint was received regarding financial fraud of Rs.56,000.The complainant invested in Alphain app which later on found to be a fake app and defrauded Rs 56,000.
Another complaint was received regarding financial fraud of Rs.20,000 in which a call received from a lady posing herself as an army officer and Purchased some items from victim, after that she send a fake text message in which she claims that she had wrongly send extra payment which was a fake message and then defrauded Rs20,000.
During the investigation, the Cyber Cell DPO Jammu, acted swiftly and exhibited hectic efforts which ultimately led to put on hold an amount of Rs 1,20,200/- out of 1,60,700/ in these four separate online cyber crime complaints . Further investigation is underway.
SSP Jammu Dr.Vinod Kumar IPS reiterated in his appeal to the general public to remain extra vigilant and report promptly to the National Helpline number 1930 or Cyber Cell DPO Jammu helpline number 8899537995 .SSP Jammu also encouraged citizens to lodge cyber complaints online at www.cybercrime.gov.in. and
www.ceir.gov.in for lost/ Stolen Mobile. Emphasizing the importance of awareness and collaboration in effectively combating cyber threats.
District Police Jammu, equipped with advanced technology and skilled personnel, remains at the forefront in the fight against cybercriminals.
