Ramban police rescues 47 bovines

RAMBAN, Apr 11: Continuing its drive against the bovine smugglers and their propagators under Operation KAMDHENU, Ramban police under the supervision of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar-IPS has foiled bovine smuggling attempts, rescued 47 bovines and seized 04 vehicles. A police team of Police station Batote headed by SHO Batote while performing vehicle checking duty at NHW Naka Nashri, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration JK19 7806,the driver managed to escape from spot.During checking 10 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. Police Party of PS Chanderkote headed by SHO Chanderkote foiled a Bovine smuggling bid, intercepted 01 vehicles bearing registration No JK 19A 1487,the driver managed to escape from the spot. During checking 10 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. Police Party of PS Ramban headed by SHO PS Ramban foiled two Bovine smuggling bids, intercepted 02 vehicles bearing registration No JK 02R 5829 and JK02D 6609 held 02 person namely Mohd Saleem son of Nazir Ahmed resident of Bhatia Maitra Ramban and Manzoor Ahmed son of Abdul Subhan resident of Bankote Banihal,both the above named drivers have been detained. During checking 27 bovines were found laden inside the both the vehicles which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. As a result, a total of 47 bovine animals were rescued under the operation "KAMDHENU." Subsequently, FIR No. 47/2024 was registered at Police Station Batote, FIR No. 49/2024 at PS Chanderkote and FIR No 76/2024 & 77/2024 were registered at P/S Ramban under Sections 188 IPC, and under the Prevention of cruelty to Animals Act. The investigation has been initiated into these cases.
