Jammu, Apr 14: In a significant development, Mr. Arshad Ali Choudhary has been nominated as the new Chairman of the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT), Jammu. The decision was made during the 5th Annual General Body meeting of the trust, held on April 14, 2024, under the patronage of Haji Abdul Hamid Choudhary, the Patron-in-Chief. The meeting commenced with prayers and tributes to the esteemed founders of GDCT, including Dr. Masud A. Choudhary, Mr. Mohammad Sharief Hakla, and Mr. Bashir Ahmed Bania. After thorough deliberations, the members unanimously agreed to elect the Chairman through consensus. Mr. Arshad Ali Choudhary’s nomination was proposed by the Patron-in-Chief and endorsed unanimously by all present members. Alongside Mr. Choudhary, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Noon was appointed as Treasurer, and Er. Mohd Sadiq Azad assumed the role of General Secretary. The outgoing General Secretary, Mr. Ch. M. S. Chouhan, provided a comprehensive report on the previous General Body Meeting’s follow-up actions and the Trust’s annual progress. During the open discussion, various speakers and members shared their insights and suggestions for the Trust’s development, emphasizing the importance of promoting Gojri language and culture. Advocate Shah Mohd Chowdhary, the outgoing Chairman, highlighted the Trust’s accomplishments over the past three years and extended gratitude to all participants. Former Chairman and working Patron-in-Chief, Mr. Abdul Hamid Choudhary, commended the invaluable contributions of Dr. Masud A. Choudhary in establishing GDCT and praised the Trustees for their dedication to preserving Gujjar history and culture. Founding Trustees, including Haji Allah Rahim Chechi, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Noon, Mr. Shouket Perwez, and Mr. Ali Hussain Hakla, shared their profound experiences and longstanding commitment to the Trust’s mission. Newly appointed Chairman, Mr. Arshad Ali Choudhary, expressed gratitude to all attendees and pledged to work tirelessly for the Trust’s advancement. He invited all Trustees to a lunch gathering at the Sahir Ludhianvi Cultural Hall, fostering camaraderie and solidarity among members.
