3/5/2009 11:00:57 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 5- All Jammu and Kashmir Contractual Engineers Association (Civil and Mech) has urged the government to regularize the services of contractual engineers on urgent basis without any further delay as it has taken the shape of cancer in the society and has kept their future on stake.
Stating this at a press conference here today, the Association President Pirzada Hidyatullah said that most of the contractual engineers have got over aged and even if regularized at this stage they will not be able to get pensionary benefits. He said the services of the contractual engineers who have been working on a meager salary were well appreciated by the former Chief Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
Expressing serious concern over the framing of another sub committee by the government, he said that it was just the deli delaying tactics and added that a sub committee was also framed by the former Chief Minister which after great deliberations had submitted the report to the government which was finally approved by the state cabinet on May 20, 2008. He reminded the government that the National Conference in its vision document has also promised to regularize the services of the contractual engineers against their posts.
Pirzada has stressed the need for implementing the recommendations of the erstwhile committee as the present committee is going to take time in submitting its report.
Those present on the occasion were vice President Sajad Malik, secretary/ provincial president, Aditya Dev Singh, general secretary Nasir Mehmood and treasuer Sanjeev Sharma and GM Bhat.
