Krishi Vigyan Kendra Reasi organises Field Day on Oilseed Crop

REASI, Apr 16: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu(SKUAST-J) organized field day on oilseed crop(Gobhi Sarson) here today at Dasanoo village in Reasi district of J&K which was enthustically attended by a number of farmers of the area. The programme was conducted under Cluster Front Line Demonstrations (CFLDs) on oilseeds, Rabi 2023-24. The major objective of the programme was to showcase the success of Gobhi Sarson cultivation in the area so as to popularize the latest technologies in oilseed crop. KVK, Reasi has laid Cluster Front Line Demonstrations (CFLDs) on Gobhi Sarson of variety RSPN-25 in the area. The programme was organised under the dynamic leadership of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.B.N.Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof.Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-J. The programme was initiated by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi with the warm welcome of the farmers. In the keynote address, he briefed the significance of field day and said that Gobhi Sarson is one of the leading oilseed crops in the region. He outlined all the technological interventions like the selection of improved variety, maintaining proper seed rate, Integrated Nutrient Management (INM, Integrated Pest Management etc. in Gobhi Sarson crop to increase the production. He guided farmers on the scientific farming of oilseed crops and urged them to adopt the latest technologies of Gobhi Sarson so that they can enhance their crops production. He also discussed on the organic techniques for oilseed crops production so as to produce safe and healthy crop products. During the interaction session farmers gave their feedback on Gobhi Sarson variety RSPN-25 demonstrated by KVK, Reasi and expressed satisfaction of the technologies. Following the programme the KVK officials and farmers visited the demonstrated fields and they expressed the happiness over the performance of the technologies laid by KVK at farmers fields. The field visit further enriched the learning experience of attendees. During the programme awardee woman farmer, Smt.Sunita Devi was also present who shared her experiences of innovative farming with the other farmers of the area. Farmers thanked KVK, Reasi for promotion of oilseeds crops in their area. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Smt.Sunita Devi with formal vote of thanks.
