| SFRI organizes 2-day workshop on CDM | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, MARCH 05 (INFO)-The State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) today organized a 2-day workshop on ‘Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)’. The purpose of workshop was to build capacity of the state in making viable CDM projects for getting CERs (Carbon Emission Reduction) and in addition to have sustainable development of resources through cleaner technologies. This is the second such workshop that has been organized in the state by the SFRI. The workshop is being attended by officers from Department of Forest, Agriculture, Industry, NGOs, Power Development, Municipality, Energy Development and other line departments. Speaking on the occasion, Conservator of Forests, SFRI, Mr Suresh Chugh said that CDM could be a good source of additional income for farmers, foresters and simultaneously it will enrich our natural resources. The workshop is having greater relevance today as J&K is also witnessing change in its climate due to global warming.
