| Refresher course for foresters concludes | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, MARCH 05-The Department of Wild Life Protection, Jammu organized two week refresher course for frontline staff (Range Officer Grade II/FPF Inspectors/Foresters/Forest Guards/Wildlife Guards /FPF Guards) from February 19 to March 4 at Manda, Jammu under the sponsorship of Ministry of Environment and Directorate of Forest Education Dehradun at NIC, Manda Jammu. The concluding function was organized at Nature Interpretation Centre, Manda Hills, Jammu. Mr. A. K. Srivastva, Chief Wildlife Warden, J&K State was the chief guest. The participation certificates were distributed among the trainees by the Chief Wildlife Warden who appreciated the trainees for their dedication towards this training programme. He stressed upon the need to maintain a balance between all living and non living components in the eco-system and conserving bio-diversity. He stated that the government has taken series of measures for conservation of Forests and Wildlife. The state has enacted its J&K Wildlife Protection Act of 1978, which has been made more stringent by amending it in 2002, thereby giving more teeth to the Department of Wildlife Protection and the Police while handling the cases related with Wlidlife crime. He announced the Department will arrange such training programmes in future also, so that the frontline staff will get acquainted with the latest techniques. Deepak Khanna, Chief Conservator of Forests, Eco-Tourism, P. K. Singh, Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Jammu and Asgar Inayat Ullah, Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Srinagar were also present on the occasion. They also spoke about the benefits of the training programme.
