As poll campaign nears end, Lal Singh plays Dogra card to counter BJP in Udhampur, Kathua district | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 16: As the campaign for the prestigious Udhampur-Doda constituency going to be stopped on Wednesday, Congress candidate Choudhary Lal Singh is vociferously playing the Dogra card to counter the BJP in Udhampur and Kathua district. Singh is playing this card to garner support in Udhampur and Kathua districts, considered strongholds of the saffron brigade. Just three days before voting on the prestigious Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat, Chaudhary Lal Singh shared his video of taking oath in Dogra after being elected as a Member of Parliament in 2004. Choudhary Lal Singh had created history when he took oath in Dogri after becoming a Lok Sabha member in 2004. As the National Conference vice president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken charge of mustering support for Choudhary Lal Singh in the Chenab region, the Congress candidate has shifted his focus on Udhampur and Kathua districts to seek peoples’ support in the last two days of the campaigning. During the last five days, the BJP has successfully retrieved its ground in these two districts by deputing all senior leaders at the grassroots, Choudhary Lal Singh has also started an aggressive campaign in these areas to counter efforts of the Saffron Brigade at the eleventh hours. On Tuesday, Lal Singh addressed a public meeting in Kathua which is his hometown, and tried to play an emotional card to seek support from the residents of Kathua town. Both BJP and Congress have been utilizing all their resources on the Udhampur and Kathua districts during the last two days of the campaign. |
