BJP likely to support proxy candidates in Kashmir: Omar
4/17/2024 10:32:39 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Apr 17: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is unlikely to field its candidates in Kashmir as they may support their proxy candidates in the Valley.
“Home Minister Amit Shah has indicated during his public address in Jammu region yesterday that BJP is not fielding their candidates in Kashmir valley”, Omar told media persons in south Kashmir Anantnag district.
“If I am not wrong what the Home Minister had said that BJP is not in a hurry to field its candidates to blossom the lotus in Kashmir valley. During the 2019 elections, BJP has fielded its candidates in all seats but failed to win any seat. When they could not win the hearts of the people, how could they field their candidates in Kashmir”, he asked.
The NC vice president said that “BJP is contesting elections in collaboration with others and the only difference is there that we are openly contesting elections with the INDIA alliance”.
He said the BJP will face defeat again too.
The former JK CM recalled that recently BJP senior leader Tarun Chugg visited the house of Apani Party President Altaf Bukhari in Srinagar where Peoples Conference president Sajad Lone was also called on, that clearly prove BJP is not fielding their own candidates but there will be Apni Party and Peoples Conference candidates from the BJP.
Replying to a question, Omar said “that it could be the BJP’s plan to field these candidates, but to win the elections for these candidates would not be easy, but impossible”.
He said Main Altaf of his party contesting from Anantnag-Rajouri parliament seat is the lone candidate who will represent the voices of the people across the Pir Panjal range. The NC Vice President said the people will accept him when they will poll their ballots on May 7.
