Police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues 5 bovines, seizes vehicles

SAMBA, Apr 21: Tightening noose on bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has foiled a bovine smuggling attempt during the early morning hours in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal, rescued five bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers and seized vehicle used in the transportation of bovines.
Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines from Kathua side towards Samba via border road, a police team headed by SHO Police Station Ghagwal laid a special naka near Chann Matloni and intercepted a Mahindara Bolero bearing registration No. PB08EN-2719 during vehicle checking. Upon checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. All the rescued bovines have been shifted to safer place.
A case FIR No. 50/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
