| GDC Nagrota celebrates Earth Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 22: Earth day 2024 was celebrated enthusiastically at the college campus today with the theme Planet Vs. Plastics. This theme emphasizes the need for collective action to repair and heal planet's ecosystems, combat climate change and preserve biodiversity.
Earth day is an annual event observed across the globe to demonstrate support for environmental protection. This day reminds citizens of the world the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, encouraging us to come together and take action for a healthier planet and bright future. Taking this baton forward this year GDC Nagrota organized a demonstration on Recycling of Plastics. This demonstration was given by Prof. Aanchal Sharma , Convenor Eco club . She elaborated on plastic segregation as per number codes .This segregation at the user end acts instrumental in recycling of the plastic.
She also explained various ways in which students can avoid use of single use plastics on the campus as well as at home. Principal of the College Prof. Anjali Mahajan also emphasized on the importance of avoiding single use of plastic and its proper recycling. In her address to students she urged them to use steel bottles for carrying water instead of plastic ones in summer. |
