Early Times Report
KHOUR, Apr 22: NCC Cadets of GDC Khour in collaboration with Dept. of Environmental Sciences celebrated Earth Day under the banner of Viksit Bharat@2047. Under the aegis of the theme of Planet vs Plastic, an activity "Best Out of Waste" and a cleanliness drive in the college campus was performed celebrating the Earth Day, in which students participated enthusiastically under the patronage of worthy principal Prof. (Dr.) T.K. Sharma.
Earth Day is being celebrated worldwide to raise awareness about the environmental issues. The urgency of plastic waste pollution cannot be overstated, as it poses significant threats to ecosystem, wildlife and human health. To make society aware of these factors, NCC Cadets and students of Environmental Sciences made beautiful items like pen stands, wall hanging, photo frame and other decorative pieces by using waste material like old newspaper, glass bottles, and plastic bottles, which were displayed in the college campus and students' efforts were appreciated who made best out of the waste material products. Prior to this a cleanliness drive was carried out by cadets inside college premises as well as places around the campus with zeal and enthusiasm. Cadets cleaned up the campus by handpicking the solid waste material, segregated the waste and managed it in proper way. Prof. T. K. Sharma, Principal GDC Khour praised the efforts of participants and also advocated the widespread awareness on the health risk of plastic and urgent need to rapidly phase out all use of plastic and encouraged the cadets to free their homes and institution from single use plastic. He lauded the hard efforts of Lt. Shivani Sharma, ANO Boys Senior Division for organizing and conducting the event with great efficiency.
