| Manohar Singh inaugurates Drug de-addiction camp | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 6- SSP Jammu Manohar Singh inaugurated a Drug de-addiction camp organized by JK Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (JKSPYM) here today. This low cost community De-addiction camp was organized with the special assistance from United Nations Office of Drug and Crime. JKSPYM is also running drug de-addiction cum rehabilitation centre namely “Mashwara Kendra” where treatment of any kind of chemical use is provided free of cost with support from the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. JKSPYM is actively involved in harm reduction program for drug users targeting (Intravenous Drug Users) in Jammu and Kashmir, like drug rehabilitation program, needle exchange program, safer practice, abscess management program, oral substitution program, over dose management program in Jammu. This low cost community camp is also the part of the harm reduction program where 20 clients were screened and short listed from a particular community and they were detoxified from their addiction of intravenous drug use as these drug users are suffering from blood born disease like abscess, hepatitis –B etc. The SSP interacted with few of the intravenous drug users and ensured full support and cooperation from police department. Also he mentioned that he has identified some police personnel who are due to various reasons addicted to drugs and alcohol. He further requested the organization to organize treatment program for them also. Rakesh Kumar, Secretary JKSPYM, Dr. Aarti Bakshi, Prof. Department of Psychology, Jammu University and Uma Sharma were also present in the occasion and interacted with drug users.
