| Minister close coordination among development agencies | | | Early Times report
JAMMU, March 06 – The Minister for Rural Development, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar on Friday assured the Lower House that Government has taken concrete measures to maintain coordination between agencies involved in execution of works in twin capital cities. Replying to Calling Attention Motion moved by Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta regarding the “digging of roads in un-planned manner in Jammu city increasing chances of accidents”, the Minister said that Divisional Commissioner, Jammu who is Chairman of Unified Engineers Command is coordinating and monitoring the construction work taken up under JNNURM and ERA. Giving details, the Minister said that UEED department is executing Rs. 129.25 crore JNNURM project and Rs. 34.77 crore sewerage project to upgrade 122 km sewerage lines across Jammu city. He said similarly, ERA is implementing Rs. 111.44 crore pipe laying project in twin capitals. He said both the agencies have also been given the responsibility of restoration of the projects. He assured that the UEED projects would be completed by February 2010 while the ERA projects would be completed by the end of the same year.
