| Construction of Degree College Mendhar to resume soon: Altaf | | | Early Times report
JAMMU, MARCH 06–Minister for Forests Mian Altaf Ahmad, while replying to questions raised by Mr. Mohammad Rashid Qureshi, Ch. Lal Mohammad Sabir and Mr. Murtaza Ahmad Khan, informed the House that 50 percent brick work for the construction of Women College, Mendhar has been completed, adding that work on the said complex has been suspended because of judicial intervention due to dispute between the agency and the sub-contractor. However, he said that the Government was eagerly awaiting vacation of the stay so that the construction work could be started. Replying to another question raised by Sardar T. S. Wazir, the Minister said that the number of students seeking admission in colleges of the State has increased rapidly. He said that apart from two colleges for boys and two colleges for women in Jammu, three more colleges are functioning at Akhnoor, R. S. Pura and Paloura and added that there is no capacity constraint for admission. The Minister said that the guidelines prescribed by the Union Human Resource Ministry for opening new colleges are being adhered and the experts from the State Higher Education Department are also involved in the process
