Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, May 1: Under the leadership of Chief Education Officer (CEO) Udhampur, Geetu Bangotra, a crucial meeting was convened to discuss the progress and future plans regarding the Nav Bharat Shiksha Karyakram (NBSK) ULLAS. Attended by all Zonal Nodal Officers (ZNOs) of ULLAS from eleven Educational Zones, along with DNO ULLAS Mr. Rakesh Singh and ADNO Jagdish Chander Sharma, the meeting focused on advancing literacy goals in the district.
Geetu Bangotra commended the ZNOs for their remarkable efforts in the first phase of ULLAS, where 9216 non-literates participated in the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test (FLNAT) 2023-24, surpassing the target of 8483. Emphasizing the collective effort required to achieve 100 percent literacy in Udhampur district by 2027 under ULLAS-NBSK, Bangotra stressed the importance of teamwork and mission-mode approach.
Acknowledging the effective utilization of ULLAS grants for the program's successful implementation, Bangotra urged ZNOs to conduct a new survey to identify more non-literates within their zones. She directed them to ensure timely completion of registration forms through engagement of surveyors at school and cluster levels, with mandatory uploading on the ULLAS Portal.
CEO Udhampur appealed to civil society to extend full cooperation to surveyors and ZNOs, facilitating the district in achieving its literacy targets. A district-level team for ULLAS was formed, with Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) instructed to constitute zonal-level teams to bolster manpower for effective scheme implementation.
