J&K police attaches property of drug peddlers in Katra-district police Reasi

REASI, May 2: District Police Reasi today attached property belonging to a drug peddler in Reasi district under section 68(E),(F) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act) 1985. The property was identified as illegally acquired property which was revealed during the course of the investigation conducted by PSI Rajat Sahani of P/S Katra under the guidance of SHO Katra, & SDPO Katra, under the overall supervision of SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma-IPS.
The property (a residential house along with 02 shops), one Maruti Suzuki swift bearing registration No. JK02AL-8281 & cash amounting Rs.3,06,000/- were attached today, the total value of which is approximately Rs 50 lakh. Both movable and immovable property belongs to drug peddlers Munish Kumar S/o Prem Kumar & Prem Kumar s/o Majoru Ram both R/o village-serwad, Tehsil-katra, Distt-Reasi.
The property was, prima facie, acquired by the owner from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The said drug peddler were involved in said case and action was taken U/S 68(E) & 68 (F) of NDPS Act of 1985. Both of them were also accused in case FIR No.s:-
1. FIR No.144/2020 U/S 8/21/22/NDPS Act at Katra Police Station.
2. FIR No. 244/2022 U/S 8/21/22/NDPS Act at PS Katra.
3. ?FIR No. 43/2024 U/S 8/21/22/27(A)/29 NDPS Act of P/S katra.
This action of the Reasi Police is the part of relentless effort to curb the menace of drug peddling in the Reasi district under Operation Jeevandan. This action reaffirms the commitment of District Police Reasi to combat drug menace.
Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of District police Reasi with regard to the attachment of immoveable/ moveable property that has been raised by use for illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the Reasi district.
