Bedlam in J&K Assembly over civilian killing

Jammu, March 7, : The state assembly on Saturday witnessed uproarious scenes before it was adjourned for half an hour over the firing incident in Srinagar in which one youth died while several others were injured.
Soon after the house was convened after it witnessed pandemonium over the issue of delimitation commision on Friday almost all the PDP members led by AR Veeri raised the issue in the house before the question hour started and accused the government of failing to check killings of innocent citizens of the state.
A verbal duel between the ruling NCP and the PDP continued after the house reassembled with the PDP members resorting to slogans "guna garon ko fansi do and logon ko jawab do" (Hang the guilty and answer the public).
Later, Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar replied on the issue saying "please do not politicise the killings. It has happened during your (PDP) time."
"Bomie (Sopore) firing incident report would be before you and you will see that we mean accountability," he said.
He further said a group of people resorted to heavy stone pelting on security forces at Nalayma road in Nowhatta at 1730 hours yesterday and a CRPF vehicle was mobbed.
A scuffle broke out between the two parties and the security personnel fired in retaliation.
Slogan shouting PDP members from second and third row stood near the well and kept shouting slogans.The PDP members also demanded tabling of inquiry report of Bomai firing incident in which two civilians were killed.
The members sitting on the treasury benches were up on their feet and countered the allegations leveled by the PDP legislators.
The house witnessed complete pandemonium before speaker of the house Mohd Akbar Lone adjourned the house for half an hour at 10.06. At around 10.38 when the house reconvened PDP members not satisfied with the govt response once again started raising the issue forcefully in the house and sought governments reply.
Speaker made repeated pleas in order to restore normalcy in the house and directed members to occupy their seats. After few rounds of slogan shouting, Rural development minister Ali Mohammad Sagar read out a statement giving details of the firing incident and urged members in the house not to politicise the killing of innocent citizens inviting trouble from the opposition benches.Meanwhile Finance Minister AR Rather interacting with the media persons outside the state assembly maintained that the coalition government would not tolerate any human rights violation and would take stern action against those who were guilty.He said certain vested interests in the state do not want to see normalcy returning to the state and take advantage when such unfortuate incidents happen
