Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 7- Lok Jan Shakti Party in a meeting held under the chairmanship of its acting president Sanjeev Manmohatra, has expressed the hope that coalition government will ensure equitable development of all three regions of the state and urged the NC Congress coalition government to ensure that there is no regional discrimination with Jammu region which has been ignored for the last 61years.
Demanding constitution of delimitation commission in the state, the party said that it has become mandatory for the leaders of NC, Congress and BJP to respect the verdict of the people and work for the development, employment, weeding out of terrorism and welfare of the people. The party said that the state assembly during NC rule had passed a law under which the delimitation of assembly constituencies could not be held till 2026. This has led to injustice with Jammu province which has more population and area but only 37 assembly seats as compared to Kashmir valley which has 46 assembly seats with less population and covers less area as compared to Jammu. The earlier decision needs to be withdrawn to give justice to Jammu province.
Delimitation problem has been going on for so many years without ever being solved. Every party accepts that it is a grave injustice but none comes forward for the solution only Hue and cry is raised out side and the matter is kept lingering on by the setting up of commissions. Two commissions have already set up but the recommendations have been put in abeyance for the reason known to the concerned.
The meeting noted with concern that injustice prevail every where so far as J&K state is concerned. The minister who are basically MLAs have great obligation to see the needs of respective constituencies.
They also demanded uninterrupted power supply during the examination days and expressed resentment over non payment of salary of VDC members of district Doda which is pending for the last over nine months.
The meeting was attended by Sudesh Puri, Om Raj Bhall, Ashok, Gupta KK. Rao,Abdul Gani, MR Puri, Abdul Rashid and Fardosh Ahmed.
