| Drass coldest in Kashmir region with minus 14, Leh minus 8 | | |

People in Drass, the second coldest place in the world after Siberia, and other areas in Ladakh region continued to shiver with minimum temperature dipping to minus 8 to minus 14.
However, weather in Kashmir valley was above normal despite the arrival of Western Disturbances (WD) from Arabia sea through Afghanistan and Pakistan.
After some improvement for a couple of days, weather in Ladakh region again became cold with Drass recording minus 13 degree this morning.
In nearby Kargil the night temperature was recorded at minus 10 degree while it was minus 8 degree Celsius at Leh.
Famed Pahalgam, the base camp of holy Amarnath cave in south Kashmir was the coldest with minimum dipping to 1.4 degrees this morning.
However, the night temperature in Srinagar was 3.8 degree, about one degree above normal.The weather in the valley remained cloudy because of WD.
A weather office spokesman said though there was no warning for the next 24 hours, but rain or snow was likely to occur at a few places in the state Generally cloudy sky with possibility of one or two spells of rain might prevail in Srinagar during the next 24 hours, he said.
