| Employees told to clear electricity dues for getting salary | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, March 8: The Power Development Department (PDD) and Water Works Department(WWD) have launched a massive drive to recover the electric and water dues in the Kashmir valley as the financial year comes to an end on March 31.
In order to recover electric and water dues from the government employees, the authorities have decided to release the salaries of those officials only who will produce a certificate from the PDD and WWD that there was nothing outstanding against them. The other consumers have been directed to pay the dues by March 15 to avoid disconnection. Official sources said the PDD and WWD have requested the drawing and disbursing officers of all departments not to release the salaries of their employees without ''No Objection Certificate''(NOC) from them. Both the departments had written letters to all departments that salaries of employees for the month of March, 2009 should not be released without NOC issued from them. They said NOC to any government employee would be issued only after he cleared all electric and water dues. This, they said, would help recovering the dues early from the government employees. The PDD and WWD department have, meanwhile, asked other consumers to pay the dues before March 15. They have warned to disconnect all connections if the dues are not cleared. However, the PDD is silent over the government departments and security forces who have to pay dues in crores to the department.
