SKUAST-J organises summit on promoting entrepreneurship

JAMMU, May 10: The second edition of SUYOG - LJK Opportunity Summit, held at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), focused on illuminating opportunities for youth in the Agriculture and Food Processing Sector. Organized by LJK Economic Growth and Development Dialogue - LEAD in partnership with SKUAST-Jammu and NAHEP-IDP, the event witnessed participation of various stakeholders, including young and progressive farmers, entrepreneurs, industrialists, academicians and agriculture sector experts from all districts of Jammu region.
A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SKUAST-Jammu and LEAD. This collaboration aims to foster joint initiatives that promote growth and development in the agriculture and food processing sector in Jammu region. The MoU signing ceremony took place in the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. S.K. Gupta, Registrar of the University, Harinder Gupta and Praveen Pargal from LEAD.
Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu was chief guest on the occasion. Prof. Tripathi in his keynote address enlightened the farmers, youth, entrepreneurs and students with the remarkable transformation journey of agriculture in India highlighting the progress of nation from a country with insufficient food to a self-sufficient and even exporting agricultural produce. The credit for this achievement, he emphasized, goes to the dedicated efforts of agricultural scientists who have developed numerous crop varieties, technologies and thus significantly increased the production. Prof. Tripathi also underscored the pivotal role of the Agribusiness Incubator SKUAST-Jammu in nurturing youth startups under the RKVY-RAFTAAR project. He expressed optimism regarding the collaborative efforts between SKUAST-Jammu and LEAD, envisioning positive outcomes for the region's agricultural sector.
The summit also featured a dynamic panel discussion, with distinguished speakers including Anshal Gulati (Gulati Oil Mills), Sh. Kamal Kishore (Agriculture Department), Vikrant Dogra (Chairman, JKDUCL), Prof. Sudhakar Dwivedi (IIT Jammu), and Anirudh Gupta (NITS College). The panel deliberated on key issues and opportunities within the agricultural domain, offering valuable perspectives from their respective fields of expertise. The event also saw participation from various agriculture and allied departments including Department of Agriculture, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Sericulture, Horticulture Planning & Marketing and NABARD.
SUYOG - LJK Opportunity Summit, initiated by LEAD, is a series of events designed to showcase the myriad opportunities available to youth across diverse sectors in Ladakh, Jammu, and Kashmir. These summits serve as platforms for fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration, creating an environment conducive to unlocking the potential of youth in propelling agricultural innovation and driving economic growth within the region.
