Second National Lok Adalat Resolves Thousands of Cases

Jammu, May 11: In compliance with the directives of the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, the Second National Lok Adalat convened today, May 11, 2024, under the able chairmanship of Mr. Sanjay Parihar, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Jammu. The event, held at the District Court Complex in Janipur, Jammu, was supervised by Ms. Smriti Sharma, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Jammu.
The National Lok Adalat addressed a diverse range of legal cases, including those related to Bank Recovery, Criminal Compoundable, MACT (Motor Accident Claims Tribunal), Matrimonial disputes, NI Act u/s 138 (Negotiable Instruments Act), Other Civil cases, and Traffic Challans cases.
A total of 25 benches were constituted to handle the plethora of cases, demonstrating the judiciary’s commitment to expeditiously resolving legal disputes. Of the 46,814 cases brought before the Lok Adalat, an impressive 46,176 cases were successfully settled.
Notably, the National Lok Adalat facilitated the recovery of a substantial amount totaling Rs. 4,97,75,048/-, underscoring the effectiveness of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in ensuring justice and restitution for all parties involved.

Such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering confidence in the legal system and upholding the principles of fairness and equity.
