| Undercover preparations to renew violence? | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 8- Notwithstanding the fact that the Indo-Pak border continues to remain quiet during the last five months, fresh attempts by agencies across the LOC were being made for equipping militants, operating in Jammu and Kashmir, with grenades and IEDs. Official sources said that the recent grenade explosions in Srinagar and Doda have confirmed reports that Pak agencies had engaged some border guides who have smuggled large quantities of grenades and IEDs into Jammu and Kashmir in recent weeks. Sources said that the main reason behind smuggling of explosives into Jammu and Kashmir was to kick up the level of violence which could not only highlight the Kashmir issue but also create added scare among people which was needed for wrecking the ensuing Lok Sabha election in the six constituencies of the state. Agencies across the border and Kashmiri separatists had lost their face when voters ignored their call for boycott of the recent Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir. These agencies also want the world attention, which is focused on the political and security situation in Pakistan, to get shifted to India, especially Jammu and Kashmir. It is in this connection that the security forces, besides the troops guarding the LOC have been asked to take in hand additional measures for preventing border guides from smuggling grenades and other explosives into Jammu and Kashmir. The police have been asked to set up additional nakas and check posts in all sensitive areas so that movement of militants from one belt to the other was restricted.
